Industry standards
Industry standard protocols ensure compatibility between various marine navigation and sensor systems, enabling efficient data acquisition and processing in hydrography, oceanography, and maritime industries. Our MRU supports the following industry standard protocols:
ATLAS – A protocol commonly used for communication with ATLAS hydrographic and navigation equipment.
GYROCOMPAS1 – A protocol used by gyrocompasses to transmit heading data for navigation and stabilization.
IFREMER VICTOR – A communication protocol associated with the IFREMER Victor deep-sea remotely operated vehicle (ROV).
MDL – A protocol used to interface with MDL’s laser scanning and positioning systems.
Tokimek PTVG – A protocol used to interface with Tokimek’s navigation instruments (e.g., their gyrocompasses).
RDI ADCP – A standard protocol for Acoustic Doppler Current Profilers (ADCP) from RDI (Teledyne RD Instruments), used for measuring water current velocities.
SMCA, SMCC, and SMCCg – Various protocols used for connecting to helideck monitoring systems and other related systems.
Simrad EM 3000 – A protocol used by Simrad’s EM 3000 multibeam echo sounder for bathymetric mapping.
TSS1 – A standardized protocol derived from the Sounder protocol, designed to transmit motion and heading data while incorporating MRU status information.
